Finncon is one of the largest volunteer-organized science fiction and fantasy conventions in Europe. It is also the biggest literary event in Finland that concentrates on science fiction and fantasy. At the moment The Science Fiction Culture Cabinet at The University of Turku (Tutka) is in the process of arranging the event in Turku in 2018.
Finncon 2018 will be held from 14th to 15th of July, 2018 at the University of Turku. Our Guests of Honour are authors Lauren Beukes from South Africa and Maria Turtschaninoff from Finland, and guest scholar Dr Merja Polvinen from the university of Helsinki, Finland.
We aim to create an event that offers something for everyone, from hardcore literature enthusiasts to fans of other media forms. All the well-loved Finncon traditions will be included as well. Finncon 2018 will be free for its attendees as usual.
Although primarily aimed for Finnish-speaking visitors, Finncon 2018 will also feature programme items held in English and in Swedish. As always, admittance is 100 % free of charge.
